3CX Mobile Device Management for Android and iPhone coming soon!

Analyst firm Gartner recently released a report which estimates shipment of laptops and desktops to decline by 21% from 2012 to 2017, while smartphone and tablet sales will jump 25 percent and tablet sales will quadruple during the same period. The influx of mobile devices into the business environment raises concerns for the security of corporate data, not to mention liability, privacy and many other such issues.

3cx Mobile Device Manager  or MDM is a software or service used to secure, monitor, manage and support mobile devices. These devices could range from smart phones to tablets or laptops and may be connected via any kind of public or private network including mobile operators.

MDM typically involves over-the-air distribution and management of applications and data. While most IT departments have security protocols to protect data on computers, MDM has become all the more relevant with the movement of computing away from computers and onto smartphones and tablets. As more and more companies are welcoming a BYOD model (employee-owned device), the need for MDM could never be more.

3CX is addressing this need with their upcoming 3cx Mobile Device Manager  for Android and iOS devices. This product provides an online dashboard to administrators enabling them to configure and update devices settings, enforce security policies, secure access to sensitive corporate data, manage apps, and remotely lock and wipe connected devices. 3CX Mobile Device Manager allows businesses to go mobile safely and securely.

With 3CX MDM you can:

  • find and track devices
  • secure data
  • manage and deploy apps
  • monitor usage
  • block rogue apps
  • enforce password policies
  • lock and wipe devices remotely
  • push WiFi hotspot passwords to connected devices

Track / Monitor Devices in Real Time

The 3CX MDM dashboard allows administrators to track / monitor connected devices in real time. When an iPhone, Android phone or iPad is lost or stolen, it lets you remotely lock the device. If the device cannot be recovered, it can also restore the device to factory settings and wipe all data stored on the device and any SD or SIM cards in the device.

3CX MDM allows administrators to enforce a company’s security policies on all of Android and iOS devices. For example, with iPhones, you can set minimum password length, time lapse before the iPhone auto-locks and the maximum number of failed password attempts before the iPhone wipes its data. It can also enable you to push WiFi hotspot passwords to connected devices.

Another great feature is app management. Imagine remotely installing an app to any or all connected devices from the dashboard. You can remove harmful apps before they damage or compromise company data.

We feel 3CX Mobile Device Management will be a valuable solution for small and medium businesses looking to get a better handle on various mobile communication devices being used by their staff. 3CX MDM is an easy, efficient and cost effectively way to manage security, risk and support for mobile devices.

For businesses that are already using 3CX Phone System for Windows, 3CX Mobile Device Management will be a great way to manage, support and secure 3CX softphone apps running on Android, iPhone and iPad devices. For more information, visit the 3CX Mobile Device Manager site.

I have signed up and tested 3CX Mobile Device Manager and it is slick. You can manage upto 5 devices for free so it is a great tool for families. I will be using a free account to manage all the iPhones in my family. I would suggest to anyone with multiple smartphones and tablets to sign up here for your own free account!
